The Birth Chart of Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence is an American actress who has reached extreme levels of success in her career. She has been named the highest paid actress worldwide in 2015 and 2016. The following image is Jennifer’s birth chart:
In this chart we will focus on three planets: Moon, Mercury, and Jupiter. All three of these planets play influential roles in Jennifer’s chart.
To begin, let's start with facts regarding Jennifer’s life. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky to a middle class family. She has two older brothers and grew up as a tomboy. She was raised to be “tough” like her brothers, and her mother apparently didn’t allow her to play with girls due to her roughhousing. She did not enjoy her childhood due to hyperactivity and social anxiety, and considered herself a misfit among her peers. Her anxieties vanished when acting and performing on stage, and it made her feel accomplished. Additionally, she was very athletic and played on boys’ sports teams, which her father coached. She was also fond of horseback riding and even suffered from a tailbone injury from being thrown from one. Her career in entertainment began when she got scouted in NYC at the age of 14. She began taking early roles and reached world wide fame when she starred in X-Men in 2011 and the Hunger Games in 2012.
Let us first analyze Jupiter in this chart. Jupiter is the chart ruler since the rising sign is Sagittarius. Additionally Jupiter has further significance in the chart as the Atmakaraka, or soul indicator, since it is the highest degree planet. Jupiter is placed in Cancer which is its sign of exaltation. Jupiter is a benefic and sattvic planet. It rules over one’s happiness, wealth, and capability for wisdom. It is a masculine planet making it highly externally driven and deals with our inspiration and creativity. Jupiter exalted in Cancer makes the natural qualities and energies of Jupiter express easily and with greater consciousness since the planet is Jagrat, or wide awake. As the Ascendant lord, Jupiter provides insights into the life path for Jennifer. Jennifer’s general life path wholly follows these qualities of inspiration, creativity, and ambition. Jupiter is in a Bala avastha, so while this is a good karma, it will manifest with the strength of an infant.
Jupiter receives rasi aspects from the fixed signs of Aquarius and Taurus where Rahu and Mars sit respectively. Mars and Rahu are considered malefics and may bring challenges to the fertility of this field of Cancer. Jupiter is getting planetary aspects from Moon, Mars, and Saturn. The Moon is giving 4 points of aspect, Mars is giving 27, and Saturn is giving 55. The moon, a malefic in this case, is only giving a nominal amount of kashta. Mars has moderate kashta and gives about 13. Saturn is strongly aspecting but has lower kashta, giving about 18 points of kashta. These calculations were done by dividing the amount of planetary aspect by 60, then multiplying it by the ishta for a benefic planet, and kashta for a malefic planet. Jupiter itself has even amounts of ishta and kashta. Overall, Jupiter is only receiving the aspect of malefics, but this is outweighed by the abundant positivity of this powerful exalted Jupiter.
We can further analyze how the energy of Jupiter will manifest by looking at the Bhava Yoga. We have the 1st lord in the 8th house. The bhava yoga of 1st lord in the 8th according to Parashara, states: “Lagna lord abiding in the eighth- one born will be experienced in sacred knowledge, diseased , a thief, with great anger and a gamer/gambler going to other’s wives.” Since the planet in question is an exalted Jupiter, positive qualities related to Jupiter will be expressed. Sudden breaks and changes in life lead to better opportunities, receiving money from others freely, and good at evoking emotions in others are some of the ways in which this placement can express and seem to apply to Jennifer. Jupiter is also a double significator for happiness in Jennifer’s chart, since Jupiter also rules the 4th house, also known as the happy bhava.
Next, let us look at the Moon (Great Friend dignity) and Mercury (Mulatrikona). Both of these planets are placed in dual signs of Mercury. Mercury is a rajasic planet and seeks to fulfill worldly desires using one’s skills. Mercury is placed in its exaltation/ mulatrikona sign of Virgo in Kumara Avastha in the 10th house, and it is Jagrat. The 10th house represents one’s career and activity in the world. This alone is a very powerful placement for one’s career. This karma has the power of a fully conscious adolescent. Mercury is a karaka for acting and being placed in the house of career and activity in the world in such positive dignity has allowed Jennifer to reach such grand success as an actress.
The Bhava yoga of 10th in the 10th from Parashara reads: “The lord of Karma standing in the Royal Bhava- skillful in all works, happy, valorous, speaking truth, and a person devoted and fond of Gurus.” Since Mercury is in positive dignity, the positive influences of this bhava yoga will include fame, being well known for skills, having one’s work and activity in the world inspire others, rising to high levels of skill and success, and a full and fulfilling career.
Mercury is receiving rasi aspect from the Moon in good dignity, which is acting as a malefic. Additionally, Mercury is receiving planetary aspects from Moon (20 points Kashta), Mars (15 points kashta), Jupiter (5 points Ishta), Venus (2 points ishta), and Saturn (10 points kashta). Overall, this Mercury has more Kashta going towards it, but it is not enough to have too much negative impact on this Mercury.
Next, let us examine the Moon’s placement. The moon is a sattvic planet, and since it is waning, means that the individual is learning to let go of a need for comfort from others and from the ego. The moon sits in the 7th house of relationships, or “others”. The 7th can often indicate how we project ourselves to others. Also, being the 10th from the 10th, one’s public image can be indicated by this house. The moon is also a karaka for popularity, and therefore this placement serves as a double indicator for public perception. As a massive public figure, the 7th house plays a big role in Jennifer’s life.
The Moon is in Great friend dignity, however in Vriddha Avastha. The Moon in this case is malefic since it is waning. The Moon represents one’s personality, ego, emotions, and popularity. The energy of the moon is very receptive and adaptable. The Moon is able to naturally express its qualities given that it is in good dignity. Being in the 7th, an angular house, makes this energy very prominent in Jennifer’s life. This Moon has likely contributed to her worldwide acclaim and popularity. The Moon also represents mother, and Jennifer’s mother plays a prominent role in her life. Growing up, her mother seemed to have a tough attitude, which could be indicated by the malefic nature of this moon. The Moon is being rasi aspected by Mercury and provides fertile grounds for this area of life. The Moon is being insignificantly planetary aspected by Sun and Saturn, and receives 12 points of Ishta from Mercury. Overall, the Moon has a more positive aspect going toward it.
The Moon rules over the 8th house. The Bhava Yoga of 8th lord in the 7th states: “The lord of Flaw standing in the Wife Bhava- causes two wives; and in his profession there will be permanent failure if joined by a Papa.” Nothing in Jennifer’s publicly available information indicates too much dealing with this area of life since it does deal much with intimate details such as sexuality and secret dealings. However, since the bhava lord, Moon, is in good dignity, we can expect that this bhava combination will be positive.
Overall, the placement of the planets Jupiter, Moon, and Mercury help explain the level of success that Jennifer has experienced in her career as an actress and general life path.
